Welcome to Beer Sailing Club

Thank you for renewing your membership for 2019 - our aim is to keep you informed about what’s going on, when and where, so that you can join in, make friends and make the most of your membership. We send a regular Club Newsletter by email to update you on sailing news, social events, work parties, changes to the calendar and loads more so please take the time to read them.  Please ensure we hold a current email address and if you don’t seem to be receiving the newsletters, after checking that they aren’t going into your junk mail folder, please let us know – it is best to contact Sarah at:
membership@beersailingclub.co.uk.
The Race Card can be viewed online and copies are also available in the Clubhouse, so please feel free to pick one up next time you are there. As well as a full programme of Sailing and Social Events, we have a few new initiatives and updates for the coming season
  1. Sunday Morning Racing will start at the earlier time of 10 am, in order to leave more leisure time on Sunday afternoons, so please to be at the Clubhouse for 9 am – there will be refreshments for the sailors after the racing and the bar will be open from 12 noon until 2 pm.
  2. Thursday Evening Racing will continue with a prompt 6.30pm start - an evening snack will be provided for the sailors and the bar will be open from 6 pm until 10 pm.  There is a WhatsApp Group for those who would like to sail on Thursdays, Sundays or both – please contact Michael Taylor on 07811 444769 if you would like to be added to the group.
We hope all members will enjoy the extended and more regular bar opening times 😊
  1. Six ‘Super Sailing’ Saturday Sessions have been added to the calendar with the aim to get more members out on the water.  These will start at 2 pm and concentrate on fun for all levels of sailing experience, ages and abilities, whether you are currently at sailing ‘Zero’ or you see yourself as a bit of a sailing ‘Hero’, please come along.   We will finish with a fun pursuit race with fun prizes.  The bar will be open from 5 o’clock ’ish’ and there will be supper available – please look out for the newsletters for further details nearer the time.
  2. Watch out for our new Club Clinics – these will be short, informal sessions held either in the clubhouse or on the beach to help you get the best out of your sailing and your volunteering e.g. Patrol Boat Familiarisation; Race Hut Officer Guidance; Dinghy Rigging; Launch and Recovery on a pebble beach, including the correct and safe use of the winches; How to Safely enjoy Sailing outside of club organised racing times.

The ever-popular Coffee Mornings started on Wednesdays, although there isn’t one on Wednesday 10th April due to the Big Charity Breakfast at Steamers that morning – Angie and the Social Group have also put together a full programme of entertaining events for you to enjoy - these tend to sell out quite quickly so that’s another good reason to read your email and keep up with the news 😊
