Patrol boat and Race Hut
We’re only a month away from the start of the sailing season, which begins on Sunday 1 April, so we need to find volunteers to man the Patrol Boat and the Race Hut on Sunday mornings and on Thursday evenings from 26 April. Please let the Sailing Secretary, Hugh Sutherland (email@example.com), know of your availability. Training is available if you are unsure of your skills.
Skills development plans
In order to help members develop their sailing skills, we will be holding development sailing sessions on four Sunday mornings during the season – 27 May, 24 June, 29 July and 26 August. These will be followed by ‘late lunches’ in the clubhouse. Experienced sailors will be on hand to help develop sailing skills and the club boats (Lasers, Picos, Bahias and a Mirror) will be available. No need to book or pay – just turn up by 10 am ready to go on the water.
Skill development / fun sailing at Axe YC
The ‘Cadet & Family Sailing’ section of Axe YC runs a series of Saturday dinghy sailing sessions from April to September to provide fun sailing and skill development opportunities for their members of all ages. Most sessions involve bay sailing (subject to weather conditions) although some sessions may use the river or harbour where the tide allows.
Taster sails will be available some weekends for those who would like to try sailing (adults or cadets 7-17years) and AYC has extended an invitation to Beer SC members to sign up for a taster sail – email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. All taster sessions are subject to weather/sea conditions and there being sufficient numbers of experienced sailors available to support.
AYC cannot take responsibility for unaccompanied children under 18 years so cadets must be accompanied by a responsible adult, who stays to help either on or off the water. Buoyancy aids in a range of sizes are available to borrow for the session and AYC has a number of training dinghies suitable for cadets & adults. Use of a club dinghy is subject to availability.
The dates planned are:

May 5th (9.30 am), 12th, 19th, 26th
