It is some time since we held a meeting of the social section and I have arranged a get together at the Clubhouse at 7.30 p.m. on MONDAY 14TH MAY so that we can discuss the various events we have planned for members. COULD YOU PLEASE DROP ME AN EMAIL TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN COME ALONG, I PROMISE THIS WILL BE A VERY INFORMAL MEETING - I JUST WANTED TO GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM YOU AND DECIDE ON THE DETAILS OF THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOME OF THE EVENTS (AS LISTED BELOW). IF YOU CANT MAKE IT CAN YOU LET ME KNOW WHICH EVENTS YOU COULD HELP OUT WITH PLEASE.

We have been asked by the Beer WI if they could come along to four of our future mornings to promote their Bamboo Disposable Cup Initiative so look out for the WI ladies on 16th, 30th May and 13th and 27th June!
THE BIG BREAKFAST HELD IN THE CLUB ON 20TH APRIL WAS A RESOUNDING SUCCESS - WE SERVED 157 BREAKFAST AND MADE A STAGGERING AMOUNT OF £1400+ FOR CANCER RESEARCH - THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND HELP.
BEER VILLAGE WEEKEND - 8th, 9th and 10th JUNE - you will have seen the posters around the village for what should be a fun weekend of Bingo, Beer, Food & Music. There will be cream teas being served in the Sailing Club from 2.30 p.m. on Sunday - so come along and support the two local charities please.
The ASIAN THEME SUPPER WAS ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS FOR THE SOCIAL SECTION and you should by now have received details and the booking form for our next event - FRIDAY 18TH MAY - PIE 'n PUD NIGHT - a selection of pies and a pud – for just £10! Dont delay in getting your booking form back to Sarah!
SUNDAY LUNCH AT THE CLUBHOUSE - as previously advised, we will, once a month throughout the Sailing Season (starting on Sunday 27th May) be offering a simple two course lunch at a reasonable price. The Club are trying to encourage adults/families to SAILING DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS and they will then be able to join members for lunch - this is a new idea - details of the first one will be out soon. If you and your your family or friends are interested in coming along to learn more about sailing please come along.
STEAK NIGHT AT THE CLUB - SATURDAY 16TH JUNE - This will be slightly different to our usual supper clubs insomuch as Grant will cook your steak to order - and it will be served individually as you would expect in a restaurant situation. Details of this will be out nearer the time but put a note in your diary NOW as this should be a popular event.
And finally - we have an important RS800 SAILING EVENT FOR THE WEEKEND OF 14TH AND 15TH JULY - details of what's required from the social section will be known nearer the date, but we will be looking for help to provide Drinks, Food and a warm welcome to the visiting competitors.

Sailing is now up and running on both Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Come along and join in the fun. We promise that the water is warming up and you will get plenty of help on the beach. Some sailors have already been travelling to events at other sailing clubs.
James Green and Iain Horlock attended the first RS800 GP event of the year at Stokes Bay to find a healthy fleet of 21 boats. Good news for the forthcoming Beer event. With large chunks of rust falling off, they managed to finish 13th which was better than they expected. En route, they also spotted The Jaggers with Comet atop the car roof.

Beer Primary School are looking for volunteers for the forthcoming Beer Blazer event held on Sunday May the 20th. There are opportunities to get involved in the race start area or out on the course as a marshall. Please get in touch with Lisa Jennings firstname.lastname@example.org
