Hello Sailors
Paella Success
The Paella Evening was another outstanding success with around 85 takers. Well done Grant for saving some paella for the sailors. A big thank you to everyone who helped to make it such a great event, with a special mention for those that turned up this morning to restore the clubhouse to it's sparkling best for our visitors this weekend.
The next event is the return of one of our most popular evenings:
Summer Ball Saturday 19th July

Club Racing
The Laser Pursuit Race yesterday evening was hotly contested in a glorious South Westerly breeze well out in the bay. The pursuit times had all been calculated based on this year's results so everyone had a chance of glory with the staggered start. Congratulations to Stewart 'The Lever' A for getting to the front and holding off the chasing pack.
Laser Coaching Day this Saturday
Laser South West Grand Prix this Sunday
The windguru forecast for both days looks like more of Beer's best - a South Westerly breeze, big waves and sunshine.
If you can help out on the beach or in the Club on either day and you havn't volunteered yet, please get in touch - many hands make light work
On the Travelling Circuit
One good way to improve your racing skills is to make the effort and travel to Open Meetings at different venues. You get experience of different conditions, different competitors and there is also the possibility of picking up new techniques.
Congratulations to Henry 'Halley' J for his two consecutive second place finishes in his Comet dinghy at Attenborough Sailing Club, Nottingham on Saturday 21st and after another long drive down to Farnham, at Frensham Pond SC on Sunday 22nd June
Beer Sailing Club Beach Site and Boat Park
If it has slipped your mind every boat on the Sailing Club site must have a current 2014 sticker.
Be advised: Notices are being applied to offending boats
EDDC check for boats that do not have stickers and ultimately impound them so if you have a boat on the beach which is not suitably decorated with this year's sticker (N.B. they are different each year) then please return the membership application form with payment to Geoff Adkin, Mount View, Barline, Beer EX12 3LW.
N.B. For the membership form, kayaks and canoes are classed as rowing boats.
Please remember to sign the declaration and tick the appropriate box to indicate your preference for voluntary club duties.
All boat owners must also sign the insurance declaration.
Click Membership Renewal PDF or Membership Renewal Word to download the membership form in your preferred format.
Beer Sailing School - RYA Accredited
The Sailing School is officially accredited by the RYA.
If you are interested in learning to sail or getting a 'refresher' get in touch with Alan. He will shortly also be offering courses in powerboat ... watch this space
Volunteers to help Alan and Tony with boat winching, derigging and packing away would be very much appreciated.
Winch Volunteers
There's no better sight for the patrol boat crew than to see some willing volunteers waiting to help 'White Eagle' safely back to it's berth on the beach
Sailing Club Winches
The Sailing Club winches are there to make life easier for everyone to go sailing. If you need some advice or guidance on how to use them safely please get in touch. We are available to help.
Wednesday Morning Coffee Club in the Clubhouse
So much better than 'Costa' and the view is magnificent - catch up for a 'social' coffee with other club members
Sailing is great fun, Apres Sail is very sociable
Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped out so far out in the bay, in the Race Hut and in the clubhouse. We can't go sailing without you.
Don't be shy, if you're interested in sailing or helping, don't wait to be asked, just come down to the clubhouse and get involved, in the clubhouse, in the Race Hut, or on the water.
Be There or Be Forever Square
Cheers and Beers
