Hello Sailors

Caribbean Theme BBQ Night Success
The Caribbean Evening was another outstanding success. There were a large number of garlands in evidence, along with some very tasty rum punch and a delicious BBQ. A big thank you to everyone who helped to make it such a great event, whether you were cooking, serving, behind the bar, washing up or clearing up in the morning.

The next event is the

Club Racing
This Week: The Laser Thursday Pursuit Races are in season, starting this week - we have the long summer evenings, we have the competitors, all we need is the breeze. The pursuit times have all been calculated based on this year's results so everyone has a chance of glory with the staggered start. These races are always fun for the participants and interesting to watch.
Last Week: Sunday was a great day for sailing with a good North Easterly breeze providing challenging race conditions out in Seaton Bay and a perfect platform for the Sailing School and all the other dinghies enjoying the sunshine in Beer Bay.
A big thank you to Mike R and John B for their lastminute.com efforts in White Eagle and to Angela C for the scrumptious lunch.

Congratulations to Mark 'Cowboy' S and Mike 'VC' T for their trophy winning exploits in the Spring Series - Well Sailed Chaps - it's also no coincidence that they are the most consistent members of the fleet in terms of attendance - You've got to be in it to win it !

Sunday Morning Sailing and 'Apres' Lunch
The clubhouse terrace is a fine viewing platform and the Race Hut crew are always open to the offer of a coffee. You are also very welcome to join us for a late 'apres sail' lunch around 1.30pm
Thursday and Monday Evenings in the Clubhouse Bar
The bar is open for a welcome sundowner. There is also hot food on offer - come down and see what's going on.

Beer Sailing School - RYA Accredited
The Sailing School is now officially accredited by the RYA. It has been a long and arduous process with many 'hoops' to negotiate  - Well Done Alan and Tony.
If you are interested in learning to sail or getting a 'refresher' get in touch with Alan. He will shortly also be offering courses in powerboat ... watch this space

Volunteers to help Alan and Tony with boat winching, derigging and packing away would be very much appreciated.

Winch Volunteers
There's no better sight for for the patrol boat crew than to see some willing volunteers waiting to help 'White Eagle' safely back to it's berth on the beach

Sailing Club Winches
The Sailing Club winches are there to make life easier for everyone to go sailing. If you need some advice or guidance on how to use them safely please get in touch. We are available to help.

Wednesday Morning Coffee Club in the Clubhouse
So much better than 'Costa' and the view is magnificent - catch up for a 'social' coffee with other club members

Beer Sailing Club Membership Renewal
If it has slipped your mind, your annual subscription is now overdue for renewal. Memberships runs from March 1st every year.
EDDC will be checking for boats that do not have stickers so if you have a boat on the beach which is not suitably decorated with this year's sticker (N.B. they are different each year) then please return the membership application form with payment to Geoff Adkin, Mount View, Barline, Beer EX12 3LW.
Please remember to sign the declaration and tick the appropriate box to indicate your preference for voluntary club duties.
All boat owners must also sign the insurance declaration.

Sailing is great fun, Apres Sail is very sociable
Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped out so far out in the bay, in the Race Hut and in the clubhouse. We can't go sailing without you.
Don't be shy, if you're interested in sailing or helping, don't wait to be asked, just come down to the clubhouse and get involved, in the clubhouse, in the Race Hut, or on the water.

Be There or Be Forever Square

Cheers and Beers
