Hello Sailors

A New Season
We are now up and running with club racing on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. We have a new patrol boat and grant assisted engine (pictured). Well done to all you sailing fellows who've ventured out so far (and of course Jean with her pretty pink helmet)

Thank you
Thank you for your offers of help at the RS800 Open Meeting. If you havn't come forward yet, we can still find you a berth - on the water, on the beach or in the Clubhouse.
We'll be in touch.....

We do need more help
Our Club is run entirely by willing volunteers (worth 10 pressed men) so we would love to see more of you involved in Club activities.
Definitely a case of the more the merrier

Your membership application now includes a section on voluntary club duties which are broadly divided into: Social/Catering,  Bar/Clubhouse,  Patrol Boat,  Race Hut and Beach
I would be very grateful if those of you who have already renewed your membership for this season could respond indicating where you can help.
We have a nucleus of members who enjoy getting involved on a regular basis so you will not be signing up for 'hard labour' more like a 'caring, sharing' experience
So don't be shy, give it a try

Going Forward
We have plans for more improvements to the club facilities e.g.
  • A new wire winch to pull the patrol boat up on to the beach
  • A new storage shed on the beach for the Beer Sailing School
  • Shutters for the bar and the kitchen
  • Soundproofing for the ceiling in the clubhouse
Beer Sailing School
The Beer Sailing School is up and running. We have the instructors, the boats and loads of enthusiasm. All we need is the weather and some more students, young or mature. From June we are also planning to offer Powerboat lessons. If you know anyone who is interested in learning to sail or to 'drive' please contact our Sailing School Principal: alanburley@hotmail.co.uk

Sailing Club Wi Fi
We now have a free wireless broadband connection in the Clubhouse. It is a secure connection so just ask for the password.

Club Officers
This is my fourth and final year in my term as Commodore and as a result there will be a reshuffle on the Committee in October and we will need:
  • A new Secretary
  • A new Membership Secretary
  • A new Vice Commodore
Mike will be stepping up to the 'hot seat' (subject of course to your votes) and he will need a strong supportive team to carry the club forward.
If you have the requisite skills to serve our Club in any of these positions or indeed any other capacity we would love to hear from you

A Fine British Summer Ahead

I am planning to promote our new 'roster' initiative this summer myself by giving 'hands on' guidance and training: in the Patrol Boat, in the Race Hut, and on the beach

So Be There or Be Forever Square
Here's to a great summer filled with sunshine, fine breezes, and convivial clubhouse gatherings.

Cheers and Beers

Ali
