Hello Sailors

Regatta Week is here......
It was great to see so many boats on the start line on Sunday Morning. A warm welcome back from his travels to Paul 'Canada Dry' W and a 'Well Done' for his podium finish in the first race - and a great comeback in the second race by Stewart 'Floating Floppy Hat' A.
All Dinghy Sailors - make sure you have the Saturday Dinghy Regatta etched in your diary. We want a really big turnout to do the Regatta proud. Remember all proceeds from the entry fees go to the Regatta Fund
Beer Dinghy Regatta Saturday 17th August
Help to greet visiting boats, organising dinghy trolleys, winching boats would be very much appreciated
Beer Cruisers and Lugger Regatta Thursday 15th August
You can watch the sailing and the raft races from the clubhouse terrace and the kitchen will be open all day for refreshments.
You can also get a great view of the fireworks on Thursday evening - the bar will be open as usual from 7pm - 10pm

Beer Sailing Club - supporting our local community  - We are very pleased to be able to help the Beer Regatta Committee every year, and not just by hosting the sailing races on Thursday and Saturday, but also by providing e.g. a patrol boat for the rowing race, a fund raising boat for the Barrel Rolling night, furniture and equipment for Sunday Funday and the Street Fayre, our gas BBQ for the Sausage Sizzle manned by different Clubs and Associations throughout Regatta Week and more besides.
We'd love to see you down at the Club If you want to get involved !
We can also be justifiably proud of our support for local clubs, organisations and charities throughout the year. Did you know that we have provided our Clubhouse on numerous occasions including very successful events for Cancer Research, The Congregational Church, Beer Primary School and the Women's Institute. We have loaned our furniture and equipment to so many that I can't recall all of them, but to name just a few: Beer Albion AFC, the Mariners Hall, Beer Horticutural Society and most recently in support of a wonderful Charity Garden Event in the village which raised over £1000 for Hospiscare and Arthritis Research.

Paella Night -  Thank you Grant for such a fantastic paella, and seconds too ! This was a great evening enjoyed by 70 + at the Clubhouse and the bar was very busy as well !

RS800 National Championships at Eastbourne SC
Congratulations to James G and James T on their fantastic 16th place at this prestigious 4 day event - 10 action packed races, loads of thrills and spills including several pitch poles and a spinnaker blown to shreds in 'fresh to frightening' 20+ knots every day - and thank you for representing Beer Sailing Club.

The Scorpion National Championships at Sidmouth, Sunday 18th - Friday 23rd August
We are helping Sidmouth Sailing Club out for this prestigious event by providing our rib for the week as a patrol boat. We need to man it for all 6 days so if anyone is interested in seeing the Scorpions in action on the water, please get in touch

Beer Sailing School
Volunteers to help Alan and Tony with boat winching, derigging and packing away would be very much appreciated.
Please get in touch with Alan to volunteer your services.

Membership
If you know someone who would like to join or you need to pay for your Rowing Boat or Sailing Dinghy you can download the Membership Form as a  PDF Here or as a Word Document Here

Winch Volunteers
There's no better sight for for the patrol boat crew than to see some willing volunteers waiting to help 'White Eagle' safely back to it's berth on the beach
Sailing Club Winches
The Sailing Club winches are there to make life easier for everyone to go sailing. If you need some advice or guidance on how to use them safely please get in touch. We are available to help.

Cheers and Beers

Ali
